| Thanksgiving is traditionally observed at McMurdo Station on the Saturday following the actual holiday celebrated in the United States. The station staff gets one of their rare two-day weekends today. The normal routine for McMurdo Station staff is to work Monday through Saturday every week with Sundays off. The galley makes a special meal for the occasion with all the traditional fixings. There were three sittings for the meal, one at 1500, one at 1630, and the final one at 1800. The 1800 sitting is the most popular because one can linger in the galley after the meal. We ate at the 1630 sitting and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The team sat together for the meal, from left to right in the photo are Sally Morehead, Stephen Sweet, Kristi Jones, Marietta Cleckly, Andrew Klein, and Guy Denoux. |
